GL Assessment-Style 11+ Mock Exams (Buckinghamshire)

The test papers for SDE's GL-style 11+ Mock Exam Paper Sets have been written by SDE under the guidance of Susan Daughtrey MEd, the 11+ tutor and author, to help students who are preparing to write the Verbal Reasoning (including English), Non-Verbal Reasoning and Maths Buckinghamshire 11+ tests by GL Assessment.

What Features Are Included?

At each Paper Set we will emulate, as far as reasonably practicable, your child’s most likely experience on the day of the real GL Assessment Buckinghamshire 11+ tests. To this end, in each location our GL Assessment-style 11+ Mock Exams (for Buckinghamshire 11+ candidates), include the following features:

There are seven Paper Sets: Paper Sets A – G. Each letter denotes a unique set of test questions.
Each Paper Set consists of two test papers:
- Test Paper 1 is a Verbal Reasoning Test comprising: (a) comprehension; and (b) technical English (such as cloze and proof reading); and (c) verbal reasoning questions (typically from the ’21 Types’ of verbal reasoning question, with some newer format VR questions also appearing on some of the Paper Sets);
- Test Paper 2 comprises: a maths section and non-verbal reasoning (including spatial reasoning) sections (of which there are usually several short sections).
Each test contains 45 minutes of questions.
The tests are multiple choice with a question paper and separate multiple-choice answer sheet.
The tests are administered using audio administration and the test papers contain separately timed sections.
Prior to each timed Section within the test paper, the Instructions for the questions in that Section and an example of each type of question are presented (and read out audibly by the audio administration). There is then a short period given to attempt several practice questions (the answers to which are subsequently read out by the audio administration).

What Feedback Can I Expect?

As with the marking of the real 11+ tests by GL Assessment, we use Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) technology to ensure quick and accurate marking of answer sheets, allowing for prompt dissemination of results.
A Letter to Parents provides information about the tests.
List of Scores – this list contains the anonymised scores of the students who have completed the same tests. You can filter by "Current Year" or "All Time", with the latter including data from any students who have completed the same test papers in past years, where available.
Access to the unique and innovative Susan Daughtrey 11+ Dynamic Video Tuition® service, so you can see exactly which questions your child answered incorrectly and your child has the benefit of Susan Daughtrey’s explanation of how best to answer the question.

Understanding Susan Daughtrey 11+ Dynamic Video Tuition®

What It Is:

Included for all multiple choice 11+ Mock Exam questions.
A short video tutorial for each question on the test papers which your child answered incorrectly, typically 1-4 minutes duration, available to stream at home.

How It Works:

Tailored to address your child’s specific learning needs based on their 11+ Mock Exam performance.
For each incorrectly answered question, you will be provided with a link to a relevant video tutorial.

Tutorial Features:

Showcases the original test question and multiple-choice answers.
Explains techniques and methods for solving questions.
Demonstrates step-by-step solutions.

Usage and Advantages:

Videos can be paused, rewound and rewatched as often as needed.
Designed to help students understand and learn from their mistakes for improved performance.

Access and Intellectual Property:

Full 11+ Mock Exam Papers are not released to avoid circulation of the Mock Exam papers and so parents can have confidence in the integrity of the comparative data.
Access provided to specific incorrect answers via secure Parent Login.
Video tutorials are available until the 11+ exams are completed in September.
Enables focused practice on areas needing improvement.

SDE's GL Assessment-style 11+ Mock Exams (with Susan Daughtrey 11+ Dynamic Video Tuition®) for the Buckinghamshire 11+ tests take place at the following locations:

2 Paper Sets – £160 (save £10)

To take advantage of multiple-exam discounts, you must make all bookings for the same child and in the same year. You have the option to combine Mock Exams from different venues into one convenient order.

Booking and Changes:

You can make changes to your booking without any charge, provided it's done at least 72 hours before the exam.
