11+ Mock Exams For Reading Boys' 11+ Candidates

The test papers for SDE's FSCE-style 11+ Mock Exam Paper Sets have been written by SDE under the guidance of Susan Daughtrey MEd, the 11+ tutor and author, to help students who are preparing to write the Reading School (Reading Boys) 11+ tests by FSCE.

What Features Are Included?

  • We offer seven 11+ Mock Exam Paper Sets (A-G). Each letter denotes a unique set of test questions.
  • At each 11+ Mock Exam Paper Set we will emulate, as far as reasonably practicable, your son's most likely experience on the day of the real English, Maths and Creative Writing 11+ tests in the FSCE format for entrance to Reading School.
  • There will be three papers: a Multiple-Choice paper, a Free Response paper and a Creative Writing paper. There will be a short break between the first paper (which is longer) and the second two (which are shorter).
  • SDE's test papers contain questions which Susan Daughtrey MEd expects to be of a similar style and level of difficulty to the questions on the real FSCE 11+ tests. The test papers have been repeatedly updated since this new format of 11+ exam was introduced in 2021 in order to reflect feedback from the boys who have completed their 11+.
  • The venues have been carefully appraised by SDE and found to be suitable for 11+ Mock Exams.
  • The venues feature free off-street parking (subject to availability).

What Feedback Can I Expect?

  • We use Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) technology to ensure quick and accurate marking of answer sheets, allowing for prompt dissemination of results.
  • A Record Table is provided, detailing your son's scores in each section of the tests, along with his total and combined scores for each test and all three tests. This also includes the group average, offering a helpful comparison.
  • List of Scores – this list contains the anonymised scores of the students who have completed the same tests. You can filter by "Current Year" or "All Time", with the latter including past years' student data where available.
  • Feedback will be provided via a secure parent login to the SDE website. For the multiple choice and free response papers, you will have access to the questions your son answered incorrectly along with the correct answer he should have given, allowing you to identify and address any areas of weakness.
  • As part of the feedback, for the Maths and English test questions, you and your son will also have access to Susan Daughtrey 11+ Dynamic Video Tuition®, offering detailed explanations for any incorrectly answered questions.
  • The Creative Writing script is marked by a qualified subject specialist English teacher with extensive experience preparing students for the 11+ exams. A scanned copy of your son's written work, together with suggested corrections and a feedback summary (showing a breakdown of your son's Creative Writing results) will also be provided.

Understanding Susan Daughtrey 11+ Dynamic Video Tuition®

What It Is:

  • Included for all multiple choice 11+ Mock Exam questions.
  • A short video tutorial for each question on the test papers which your child answered incorrectly, typically 1-4 minutes duration, available to stream at home.

How It Works:

  • Tailored to address your child’s specific learning needs based on their 11+ Mock Exam performance.
  • For each incorrectly answered question, you will be provided with a link to a relevant video tutorial.

Tutorial Features:

  • Showcases the original test question and multiple-choice answers.
  • Explains techniques and methods for solving questions.
  • Demonstrates step-by-step solutions.

Usage and Advantages:

  • Videos can be paused, rewound and rewatched as often as needed.
  • Designed to help students understand and learn from their mistakes for improved performance.

Access and Intellectual Property:

  • Full 11+ Mock Exam Papers are not released to avoid circulation of the Mock Exam papers and so parents can have confidence in the integrity of the comparative data.
  • Access provided to specific incorrect answers via secure Parent Login.
  • Video tutorials are available until the 11+ exams are completed in September.
  • Enables focused practice on areas needing improvement.

The 11+ Mock Exams are available at the following Venues:

  • Earley Crescent Resource Centre, Warbler Drive, Reading, RG6 4HB; and
  • The Forest School, Robin Hood Lane, Winnersh, RG41 5NE

  • 2 Paper Sets – £170 (save £10)
  • 3 Paper Sets – £240 (save £30)
  • 4 Paper Sets – £300 (save £60)
  • 5 Paper Sets – £350 (save up to £100)
  • 5 or more Paper Sets - £70 each

The prices above include a £10 supplement as this format of SDE 11+ Mock Exam includes a creative writing assignment. To take advantage of multiple-exam discounts, you must make all bookings for the same child and in the same year. You have the option to combine Mock Exams from different venues into one convenient order.

Booking and Changes:

You can make online changes to your booking without any charge, provided it's done at least 72 hours before the exam.
