Susan Daughtrey Education 11+ Courses - Langley

The following Courses are available at our Langley venue:

  • 11+ Foundation Course (36 weeks, November of Year 4 to October of Year 5, 1 hour 30 minutes per week).
  • 11+ Course (Year 5 students) (32 weeks, October of Year 5 to the 11+ test, 2 hours per week).
  • 11+ Summer Course (Revision and Testing). This takes place during the summer holidays, a few weeks before the 11+ test, and is open to new students who have not previously studied with SDE.

Features of Susan Daughtrey Education 11+ Courses

  • A Prep-Bag™ containing Course materials is given to each child at the beginning of the Course.
  • The Course focuses on teaching your child the techniques required to successfully approach each type of question on the GL Assessment 11+ tests used by the Slough Consortium and Buckinghamshire.
  • Regular 'mini' and periodic 'progress' tests are administered throughout the Courses to help monitor child's progress.
  • Test paper practice sessions are set in class under examination conditions in the final part of the Year 5 Course.
  • Holiday homework, to continue familiarity and practice, is set on a scheduled homework programme during Year 5.

Year 4 11+ Foundation Course

  • Initial Assessments begin the Course, setting a baseline and pinpointing areas of relative strength and weakness.
  • The curriculum is built on a foundation of structured lesson plans and materials, all originating from Susan Daughtrey M.Ed.
  • Each week during term time, students engage in 1 hour and 30 minutes of tuition, spanning either 36, 30 or 17 weeks depending on the duration chosen.
  • Interactive Hybrid Classroom technology provides a seamless option for joining lessons at our Tuition Centre in Beaconsfield during self-isolation or in other exceptional circumstances.
  • Weekly, pre-recorded video tutorials are available, offering detailed coverage of lesson content, useful for recap/revision purposes and enhancing parental understanding.
  • Homework assignments are distributed weekly in a Prep Bag, which are included in the Course fee.
  • An Online Record Table facilitates the tracking of test and homework outcomes, offering valuable insights and comparative data.
  • A team of experienced teachers, all committed to the success of students in the 11+ exams.
  • Class sizes are kept small, capped at a maximum of 12 regular students, to ensure the the teacher can provide personalised support to each individual student.
  • A commitment to safety is paramount, with all staff members undergoing thorough Enhanced DBS checks to create a secure learning environment.
  • We accept Childcare Vouchers and Tax-Free Childcare payments at our tuition venue in Langley which is an Ofsted-registered childcare setting.

30-Week Year 4 Foundation Course

Year 5 11+ Course

For GL Assessment 11+ candidates who enter Year 5 in September.
The SDE 11+ Course has been created for students preparing for the GL Assessment® 11+ tests and comprises:

  • 4 Assessments at the beginning of the Course (English, Verbal Reasoning, Maths, and Non-Verbal Reasoning).
  • "A technique-focused approach to learning for the 11+" (unlike many 11+ Course providers we teach your child how to approach each 11+ question using Susan’s carefully developed techniques).
  • Susan Daughtrey M.Ed Course structure, lesson plans and materials are used in class.
  • 2 hours of tuition per week during term time; 32 lessons in total.
  • 2 additional ‘Mini Mock’ Sessions (2 hours each) are undertaken in January and March to introduce the students to formal examination and to help monitor progress (extending the Course to 34 weeks in total).
  • GL-style SDE 11+ Mock Exam Session A (2 ½ hours – Spring) is included in the Course fee (GL-style SDE 11+ Mock Exam Sessions B – G can be added as an optional extra – see below).
  • For periods of self-isolation or other exceptional circumstances, your child is invited to join a classroom-based lesson via our fully interactive Hybrid Classroom technology which is now available in all three of the physical classrooms at the SDE Beaconsfield Tuition Centre.
  • Access to our weekly pre-recorded video tutorials which have been devised and narrated by Susan Daughtrey M.Ed and cover all of the weekly lesson content – these video tutorials enable you as a parent to understand what is being taught in the classroom and the teaching methods used; they are also an invaluable resource if your child needs to recap or for revision purposes.
  • Fully qualified and experienced teachers who are also 11+ subject area tutors.
  • Weekly-set Homework using homework resources provided by SDE in an attractive Prep Bag (included in the Course fee).
  • All test and homework results can be recorded on your child’s Online Record Table, providing comparative data and analytics.
  • Small groups: A maximum regular group size of 12 students.
  • A technique-focused approach to learning for the 11+.
  • 2 Tuition Centre Assistants and Classroom Administrative Assistants are employed so the teacher can focus exclusively on your child’s educational needs.
  • All SDE staff are carefully vetted, including an Enhanced DBS check.
  • As an Ofsted-registered childcare provider, at our Buckinghamshire and Langley Tuition Centres we accept Childcare Vouchers and Tax-Free Childcare payments – save at least 20% on our Course fees.

SDE Summer 11+ Course

for GL Assessment® 11+ candidates currently in Year 5
  • Week-long intensive ‘Revision and Testing’ Course offered for September GL Assessment® 11+ candidates.
  • Classes scheduled across five weeks during school summer holidays at Amersham, Beaconsfield, and Langley venues.
  • Course features 20 hours of teaching across five days, with each day spanning 4½ hours including breaks.
  • Each class capped at 12 students to ensure personalized attention.
  • Instruction by fully qualified teachers experienced in preparing students for the SDE 11+ exams.
  • Support from an Administrative Classroom Assistant for in-class test marking, enhancing focus on teaching and student needs.
