SDE's 11+ Mock Exam test papers are the work of Susan Daughtrey Education. Developed under the guidance of Susan Daughtrey M.Ed., a renowned 11+ tutor and author, they are crafted to assist students with their final 11+ exam preparation.

11+ Mock Exams for Maths & Verbal Reasoning (GL Assessment-Style) and English 11+ Candidates

The test papers for SDE's GL-style 11+ Mock Exam Paper Sets have been written by SDE under the guidance of Susan Daughtrey MEd, the 11+ tutor and author, to help students who are preparing to write Maths & Verbal Reasoning 11+ multiple-choice test (60 mins) by GL Assessment and the separate standard version English 11+ test. The English test, comprising reading comprehension and writing, is normally prepared in-house by The Latymer School (60 mins).

What Features Are Included?

  • There are three Paper Sets held at The Latymer School. Each letter denotes a unique set of test questions so please only book each letter for your child once.
  • Each SDE 11+ Mock Exam Paper Set comprises a multiple-choice Maths and Verbal Reasoning 11+ test (GL-style) (60 mins) and an English test (comprising reading comprehension and writing in the standard format – i.e. not multiple choice) (60 mins).
  • The two papers are separated by a short break.
  • Answers to the Maths and Verbal Reasoning test are recorded by the student on a separate multiple-choice answer sheet.
  • The English test is divided into two Sections, the first Section is reading comprehension and the final Section is writing.
  • The Paper Sets have been carefully timed to coincide with your child's final preparation for the multiple-choice GL Assessment Maths and Verbal Reasoning test and the standard version English test for entry to The Latymer School, Edmonton.
  • At each Paper Set, we will emulate, as far as reasonably practicable, your child’s most likely experience on the day of the real Maths / Verbal Reasoning and English 11+ tests for entrance to The Latymer School.
  • You can combine these tests with Mock Exams at other venues.

What Feedback Can I Expect?

  • We use Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) technology to ensure quick and accurate marking of answer sheets, allowing for prompt dissemination of results.
  • A Record Table is provided, detailing your child's scores in each section of the test, along with their total and combined scores for both tests. This also includes the group average, offering a helpful comparison.
  • The Group List of Scores includes anonymised results from all students in the same 11+ Mock Exam Paper Set, facilitating a straightforward comparison of performances with peers. Each Paper Set is typically attended by 150 students. Where the same exam papers have been used in past years, you will also have access to historic comparative data.
  • As part of the feedback, for the Maths & VR paper, you and your child will have access to Susan Daughtrey 11+ Dynamic Video Tuition®, offering detailed explanations for any incorrect answers and guidance on optimal answering strategies.
  • The English comprehension and creative writing paper will be marked by one of the SDE 11+ Course teachers who is a specialist English subject teacher and who responsible for preparing current SDE students for the 11+ exams. As well as receiving a breakdown of the results, you will also be sent a scanned copy of the English paper containing some comments and corrections from the teacher.

Understanding Susan Daughtrey 11+ Dynamic Video Tuition®

What It Is:

  • Included for all multiple choice 11+ Mock Exam questions.
  • A short video tutorial for each question on the test papers which your child answered incorrectly, typically 1-4 minutes duration, available to stream at home.

How It Works:

  • Tailored to address your child’s specific learning needs based on their 11+ Mock Exam performance.
  • For each incorrectly answered question, you will be provided with a link to a relevant video tutorial.

Tutorial Features:

  • Showcases the original test question and multiple-choice answers.
  • Explains techniques and methods for solving questions.
  • Demonstrates step-by-step solutions.

Usage and Advantages:

  • Videos can be paused, rewound and rewatched as often as needed.
  • Designed to help students understand and learn from their mistakes for improved performance.

Access and Intellectual Property:

  • Full 11+ Mock Exam Papers are not released to avoid circulation of the Mock Exam papers and so parents can have confidence in the integrity of the comparative data.
  • Access provided to specific incorrect answers via secure Parent Login.
  • Video tutorials are available until the 11+ exams are completed in September.
  • Enables focused practice on areas needing improvement.

The prices above include a £10 supplement as this format of SDE 11+ Mock Exam includes a creative writing assignment. To take advantage of multiple-exam discounts, you must make all bookings for the same child and in the same year. You have the option to combine Mock Exams from different venues into one convenient order.

Booking and Changes:

You can make online changes to your booking without any charge, provided it's done at least 72 hours before the exam.
