Experience
I began my teaching career in America, but after six years of teaching Years 5 and 6, I moved to England. I have had the pleasure to teach in state, private and International schools here in the UK. I have taught every year group from Reception to Year 6; however, the majority of my teaching career has been in Years 5 and 6. During these various positions I have been Head of Year, Head of Maths Department, Literacy Coordinator and Head of Science.
In addition, I have delivered the following professional workshops: ‘Portfolio Writing’ (guiding teachers in building an authentic writing curriculum in the classroom) and ‘Beyond the Books’ (training teachers in a school wide discipline program that uses common language and positive reinforcement to build a unified and nurturing school climate).
Most recently, I have taught Maths at a local independent school to Years 4, 5 and 6. Growing up hating Maths, it is my thrill (and responsibility) to ensure that even the most reluctant Mathematician feels proud of their ability… and finds Maths fun! Regardless of the subject I am teaching, I love getting to know each individual student and watching them grow to reach their full potential.
