Experience

I have 27 years teaching experience, both Secondary and Primary. I started my career in a State Grammar School, teaching a range of subjects to children aged 11-18.  In my 11 years in the school, I also held management responsibilities as a Head of Faculty and a Mentor for newly qualified teachers, and a pastoral role as a Head of Year, looking after the pupils in my care as they moved through the school from Year 7 through to Year 11. I particularly enjoyed my pastoral role and throughout my career have been a firm advocate that the well-being of children is a key part of academic success.

On starting my family and moving to Buckinghamshire, I moved into the Independent sector, again teaching children from Year 7 to Year 13. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at both secondary schools, but in 2012, I was given the opportunity to broaden my career and work at a local Prep School, teaching a range of different subjects at Key Stage 2. I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed teaching this age group and stayed on for a further 7 years, teaching Year 3 up to Year 6 alongside being a Head of Department and holding various other positions of management responsibility.

Ass well as tutoring I also hold the position of Teaching Resource Developer which is based at the SDE Head Office in Beaconsfield.  In this role I am resposible for the organisation and development of new teaching resources. During the 11+ Mock Exam season I have also marked some of the students' Creative Writing scripts for those areas, such as North London and Reading, where the SDE 11+ Mock Exam includes a written component.
