The exams in April, May and June were unable to proceed. Parents were given the option to rebook or offered a full refund. The vast majority of refunds were issued within 1-2 business days.
Each SDE 11+ Mock Exam Session was limited to 15 candidates.
There were special hygiene measures (such as hand washing) at Registration.
PPE was made available free of charge at the Registration Desk for staff and students. Staff were required to wear a mask if they need to move within 2 metres of others. In line with DfE Guidance for 9-10 year old children, candidates were not required to wear masks but were welcome to do so.
Desks and chairs were disinfected at the beginning of the day and between each use.
All exam papers and answer sheets were placed on the candidate’s desk before they entered the Exam Hall or classroom.
Candidates were sat at least 2 metres apart in the Exam Hall or classroom (an enhanced measure taken by SDE over and above the requirements of the Government Guidance at the time). Please see our example Tuition Centre diagram and Tuition Centre photos (SDE Burkes Court, Beaconsfield).
Comprehensive details of the steps we took to keep everyone safe at the SDE 11+ Mock Exams were seen by the policy team at the DfE who are responsible for Out of School Settings, who commented that the plans “seem[ed] very sensible”.
While we hope for a ‘return to normality’ this year, we are resigned to the fact that special measures are highly likely to be necessary. The exact arrangements will depend on the circumstances nearer to the time and the latest Government Guidance to the Out of School Sector. At the present time, all SDE 11+ Mock Exam ‘bubbles’ are being limited to 15 candidates and accommodation has been booked so that we can adhere to 2 metres distancing between candidates while the children are writing their tests. It may be possible to relax these arrangements if the pandemic subsides.
As well as being provide with access to comparative data for the children attending the Session with your child, you will also be able to access our All Time Lists of Scores which include the results of all candidates who have written the same test papers in past years. The All Time Lists of Scores are likely to contain the most comprehensive and reliable 11+ Mock Exam comparative data available.
The Buckinghamshire 11+ tests are provided by GL Assessment® and have been since September 2018 (GL Assessment is the official 11+ test provider for Buckinghamshire and SDE is not associated with or affiliated to GL Assessment). All Susan Daughtrey Education Courses in Buckinghamshire are designed to prepare students for the GL Assessment 11+ tests.
Susan Daughtrey Education 11+ Courses in Buckinghamshire begin with the Foundation Course (36 weeks – 1 1/2 hours per week) in October/November of Year 4 or the shorter version of the Foundation Course (17 weeks – 1 1/2 hours per week) which commences in May.
The Foundation Course classes end in early October (when your child will be in Year 5). The Year 5 Course then commences a week later and runs all the way up to the actual Buckinghamshire 11+ tests the following September.
Features of all Susan Daughtrey Education Courses
SDE’s Buckinghamshire Courses comprise the following features:
A Prep-Bag™ containing Course materials is given to each child at the beginning of the Course.
The Course focuses on teaching your child the techniques required to successfully approach each type of question.
Regular ‘mini’ and periodic ‘progress’ tests are administered throughout the Courses to help monitor your child’s progress.
Test paper practice sessions are set in class under exam conditions in the final part of the Year 5 Course.
Holiday homework, to continue familiarity and practice, is set on a scheduled homework programme during Year 5.
The vast majority of the in-class Course resources have been written by Susan specifically for the Course.
Refresher Course
A Refresher Course comprising three days at the end of the school summer holidays gives the opportunity for intensive revision. The Refresher Course is an optional extra and is only available to the students who have attended the SDE 11+ Course (Year 5) throughout the school year.
Summer ‘Revision and Testing’ Course
For students who have not attended the SDE 11+ Course (Year 5) throughout the year, we offer a 20 hour intensive ‘Revision and Testing’ Course over 5 days during the summer holidays.
This Course is aimed at those students who have been preparing for the 11+ during Year 5 and who would benefit from additional revision and test paper practice. The Summer Revision and Testing Course is not suited to students who have attended the SDE 11+ Course (Year 5) throughout the year; these students should opt for the Refresher Course.
